The people of the middle east were in for a treat as Jennifer Lopez thrilled thousands of fans who gathered in Dubai on Friday night to watch her perform her greatest hits. The invite-only event was held at the Dubai Airshow gala on November 15 and at the BASE nightclub in the luxurious Dubai Design District the next day.
The 48-year-old gave her public their money’s worth with an energetic performance that choreographed to perfection where she sang all the singles that brought her to fame including, Jenny from The Block, I Ain’t Your Mama, Get Real, I’m Real, Waiting for Tonight, Let’s Get Loud, and of course her new Spanish track track Amor, Amor, Amor.

The singer created a lot of expectations surrounding her shows in the emirate city and spoke to Gulf News about her concerts. ““My show’s a little different now than the one I did at the World Cup or even the one that I did on tour. You’re going to hear a lot of the classics and hits that you know, and I’ll do a couple of new ones that I haven’t performed there, that I’ve put out in the last couple of years.”
“I want everybody to have a good time and just forget what’s going on in their lives.” said the singer to the news outlet. What had fans everywhere worried though was the sensual nature of JLo’s performance, her provocative dance moves which include a lot of twerking, are not viewed with kind eyes in the conservative city, actually Dubai courts could find those dance moves as punishable offenses.

As a matter of fact, the middle eastern country carries a strict dress code for women and violating it is a severe offense that could cause a hefty fine and jail time, the dress code prohibits skirts and bikinis, and if you’ve ever seen JLo perform before, you’ve probably noticed that her outfits are not something you would call conservative ever.

The New York Times recently published a compilation of laws in countries in that area, that have affected foreigners who are now doing time in their prisons. The compilation also explained that they do turn their eyes away to some tourists, especially if they are on the same level as the Bronx diva who is famous enough to get away with the cool crime of twerking.
