A little boy in Texas used his toy guitar to play “Remember Me” from the movie “Coco” to express his feelings towards his late sister. Stephanie and Samir Deais, from San Antonio, filmed their 4-year-old, Alexander, singing the emotional song to a photo of his baby sister, Ava Lynn.
The Deais family keeps an altar for Ava Lynn, who they lost in May 2017 when she was only four months old. “Remember me, though I have to say goodbye – Remember me, don’t let it make you cry – For even if I’m far away, I hold you in my heart,” is part of the song the little boy sings to Ava.
Alex didn’t know their parents were filming him. He just wanted to sing to her on what would have been her first birthday. Ava Lyn passed away in May 2017 after getting diagnosed with hydronephrosis, a kidney condition.
The family has been sharing special memories of their daughter, and indeed, this video is one they will never forget. “My son singing ‘Remember Me’ from the movie ‘Coco’ to his baby sister, Ava, who we lost this past May. He’s only four years old, and he understands,” wrote Stephanie on the caption of the video.
The video went viral on social media, getting over a million views as of Thursday morning. Stephanie and Samir expressed their appreciation towards the many comments of love they received through social media.
“Nothing short to beautiful,” said Samir to MySanAntonio.com. “All this ugly in the world and these kinds of things make it still seem beautiful in the dark times.”
