A Godsend Nashville nurse has captivated the hearts of millions when a Facebook video of her tearfully singing to a dying woman awaiting a liver transplant was posted on social media. 63-year-old Margaret Smith was hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where her gracious nurse Olivia Neufelder sang “Dancing in the Sky” by Dani and Lizzy at her bedside every day, according to reports by indystar.com.

Crystal Hamilton Roberts, a close friend of Margaret, recorded the emotive video and this was later shared by Mrs. Smith’s daughter, Megan Smith on her Facebook account and captioned it the following way. “This nurse sat with my mom for hours while the medicine from too much Anesthesia and sang a very special song to my sweet mother to comfort her. You never left her side by choice!! Words cannot describe the appreciation and love we feel for nurse Olivia who mom calls her angel! Your dedication to your patients is beyond any that I have seen, you truly are a beam of light and I cannot thank you enough for the compassion and care and love you shared for my mother. God bless you Olivia! (I hope you all share this so it can find its way back to nurse Olivia in Vanderbilt )” You can watch the video below, but let us warn you that it will completely change your day (for the better).

Mrs. Smith was in a state of fear and grief because her cancer had debilitated her so much that she wasn’t able to undergo the surgery, nurse Neufelder then started singing to her, with the hopes that it would alleviate her pain and bring comfort to her last moments on earth. Neufelder’s touching act of compassion was recorded on October 12, by last Friday afternoon the video had already garnered more than 4.3 million views.

“Miss Marg has touched my heart in such an indescribable way. I am so humbled and honored to be a Nurse. My thoughts and prayers are forever with this amazing family,” Neufelder wrote on her Facebook. Mrs. Roberts announced that her longtime friend passed away last Wednesday at a nursing home, only six after being told that she would not survive the liver transplant procedure.

Neufelder spoke with the media and explained that Smith was more than a just patient to her. “There was almost a sense of peace knowing that it was her favorite song and she did tell me it’s the song she wants to be played at her funeral,” she said.
