A little Cleveland boy had to spend the night in jail for stealing his family’s car and leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase. The grand theft started around 8:30 A.M. last Thursday, October 26th.
The chase ended around 9:45 A.M. after an officer managed to hit the back of the boy’s car, causing him to crash against another cruiser, and a road sign. This incident allegedly occurred because the 10-year-old child got tired of waiting for his older sister to take him to school.
The dash cam video footage released to the media shows the large mobilization of units that were used to chase the young delinquent. He was dangerously speeding down the Ohio Turnpike.
The boy was completely ruthless during the chase. To avoid running over a spike strip, the petite felon gets off the road and starts driving on grass, managing to retain control of the car the whole time.

After finally getting stopped by officers who were not carrying any weapons, the cops swarmed the vehicle, yelling at the kid to roll down the window. Other officers who were a bit more shaken up by the situation suggested breaking the window instead.
After the child got taken out of the car, he got immediately handcuffed and placed in the back of a squad car. ABC Cleveland News 5 reported that as the child was being arrested, he was still uppity and allegedly spit on an officer.
He reportedly kicked another one in the chin. Talk about an attitude problem right? Lt. Richard Reeder said that the heart racing pursuit lasted an hour and reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.

According to other news outlets, the car belonged to the boyfriend of the boy’s mother and he snatched the keys while his sister was getting ready in the bathroom. After realizing what had just happened, the mom hopped in her car and followed her son while calling 911.
Cleveland officers said this wasn’t the first time that the child stole a car. A week earlier he had taken his mother’s car jor a joyride through town. The only reason he stopped that time was that the car got three flat tires, said the police.
The child’s father, Christopher Hampton, who was clearly disappointed at his son’s behavior, talked to ABC about the incident. “He thinks everything is funny,” said the father. “He thinks because he got away with it the first time, they ain’t going to do nothing to him this time.”

The Hampton kid has been charged with felony fleeing and eluding. It is still to be determined whether it will be necessary for him to remain in a juvenile detention center or not.
