Sofia Vergara is best known just for being herself, her grace has allowed her to have multiple starting roles in many successful TV shows, where she has won multiple awards and recognition, but that is just one of the multiple facets the stunning Colombian actress manages.
Gloria Pritchett as the actress is known in the laureated and still running sitcom ‘Modern Family’, has a natural knack for businesses, a talent she’s been developing successfully since before she broke into international stardom. Her latest venture is EBY, a seamless underwear subscription service, where 10% of net sales are used to empower women out of poverty and into business, through the microfinancing of female entrepreneurs.
“The impact and the profitability of the business are both equally important to me; hence why I invested in a social enterprise,” said Vergara to CNN. “As a woman who has been able to build my career through business, business was the most logical way to enable other women,”

Sofia Vergara’s approach to business has always carried a social angle, back in 1994, Hispanic representation in Hollywood was considerably hard to come by, knowing personally how hard it was for her to stand out in the market, she started a talent management firm with her longtime friend and business comrade Luis Balaguer, called Latin World Entertainment (LWE), and nowadays they represent some of the biggest stars in Spanish-language television, and have worked their way into licensing and marketing.
Soon after the couple would partner with Emiliano Calemzuk, a former president of FOX Television Studios, to star a Latino-focused digital media enterprise called Raze.
However, it looks like EBY has really captured the heart of Mrs. Vergara, the opportunity to work with vulnerable women is something that the Colombian actress has really taken her heart into.
“I had to work for 20 years to get where I am today. Now it is my turn to enable other women through business and every time you strut in these perfectly seamless undies, you do too!” says Vergara on EBY’s website.
Renata Black, Sofia’s partner and co-founder in EBY, says that the actress goes through rigorous and diligent research before making any investments.
“She has an amazing commercial eye and she really is part of the design process, she’s part of the brand vision, she’s part of the execution of how that brand comes to life … so she has her hands in mostly everything,” said Black to CNN. “This is her number one thing that she feels genuinely very passionate about.”
It is no wonder that with such a gifted mind, Sofia Vergara has been able to remain the highest-paid television actress for six years running. According to Forbes, Vergara clocks in around $41.5 million a year, and that represents only a quarter of her income! With the rest coming from her business ventures, movie roles, speaking engagements and licensing deals. Latino women are sure making a lot of noise this year, with them dominating most aspects of the entertainment industry, in the future, we will surely look back at 2017, like the year everything started going right for our proud women.
