Snoop Dogg is a true vato down for la raza. There’s no denying that. Snoop has shown his love for our diverse Latino culture multiple times, but in ways that no other non-Hispanic artists have done it before.
Calvin Cordozar (birth name) truly knows how to connect with the ‘raza pesada’, and that’s why he listens to banda. It’s the genre of people who live a Latino lifestyle, and don’t just bring it up on Cinco de Mayo.
Everybody is always down for tacos and tequila, but when it’s about actually getting to know the culture, most artists tend to stay away. Not Snoop, though.
As you can see on his Instagram, the rapper is always repping Mexican artists. He has an interesting love for the Latino culture and regional music like Norteño, Banda Sinaloense, Ranchera, etc.

This time around, Snoop gave an Instagram shoutout to a young band from Los Angeles, California, called Legado 7. They released their first studio album a couple months ago called “Un Chamaco sin Futuro” (A Kid Without Future).
The concept of the album centers around a boy who got involved with the mafia to escape the precarious circumstances that surround his life. The 46-year-old rapper recorded himself vibing to el corrido of El Chinito, a song about an avid marijuana smoker.
“That’s rolling, ‘rolando’ is rolling,” Snoop says explaining a Spanish lyric that makes reference to the rolling of marijuana cigarettes. “Ronlandose un toque con hojitas de marihuana,” says the song playing in the background.

“Hey, ya’ll gotta get this sh*t,” says Snoopzilla at the end of the video. He then turned his phone to his computer screen where he was streaming the album.
“Legado 7, Un Chamaco Sin Futuro, Rolando,” shouts the rapper excitedly, giving the band much-needed advertisement. At the moment, the two videos have had close to 200,000 combined views.
In a YouTube video, the band is shown rehearsing in a garage and they start playing Dr. Dre’s banger, The Next Episode, but ‘Norteño’ style. Snoop Dogg is featured in that song and opens it up with one of his most famous lines in hip-hop history.
“La-da-da-da-dahh, it’s the one and only D-O-double-G.” The video of this cover teaser has already garnered over 300,000 views.
Snoop Scorsese has also turned to Mexican regional music to express sadness and disappointment because there’s nothing like a razor-sharp ‘Banda Sinaloense’ song to put a heartbreak into context. When Dodgers lost 5-0 against The Cubs in last season’s playoffs, Snoop dedicated the melodramatic ballad, Tengo Que Colgar, by Mazatlan power group ‘Banda MS’ to all the Dodger fans.
“Yo creo que hasta aquí la vamos a dejar, hubiera preferido decirlo en persona,” is heard in the song as a brittle eye Snoop takes a melancholic swift of his cigar lamenting the loss of his team.
