The Simpsons’ Moe Sends Puerto Rico A Message While Taking A Swing At Donald Trump

Is there a more righteous show than the Simpsons? Seriously, you must be doing something really wrong to get called out by the longest-running American primetime television cartoon series ever.

Ultimately, that’s beyond the point. Our favorite animated bartender – the always charming and misunderstood Moe Szyslak – has a message for Puerto Rico. Getting a positive shout out from a Matt Groening character is an amazing way to lift the spirits of the 3.5 million U.S. citizens on the island that have gone through so much suffering in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

In a new short that was posted online on Friday, the owner of the hottest bar in town, who is voiced by Hank Azaria, announced that the show’s viewers raised $25,000 to help with the island’s relief efforts. The short-tempered yellow character also took a personal swing at President Donald Trump as he addressed San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz.

He told her that he knows what if feels “when somebody comes and throws paper towels at you,” making a reference to the time Trump visited the island in September and started lobbing towels at the locals in the aftermath of the storm.

The President was heavily criticized and has now caught the attention of The Simpsons. “In my case, it was flaming toilet paper but the principle is the same,” Moe added. “It is humiliating.”

The Mayor of Puerto Rico’s capital rendered thanks to Moe’s gesture in a very heartwarming Tweet.

“Thank you, Moe, for understanding how we feel. We have very little power but having @TheSimpsons in our corner fills our hearts with light,” wrote the 54-year-old politician.

She has been fighting tooth and nail to restore the island back to its original form despite the rotten insults she has received from Trump when requesting Federal assistance.

Six weeks have passed since the hurricane struck Puerto Rico and most of the island is still without power.

The electricity isn’t expected to get any better for months, especially because the main contract the government had signed to repair the tattered system was canceled due to the many inconsistencies and corruption allegations.

Also, many of the island’s residents are still without running water, something that has caused severe health problems in the island that is now a humanitarian disaster.
