Sephora Employee Claims She’s “From The Hood” When Confronted About Her Racism

A black woman shopping at a Sephora claims that she felt racially profiled by one of their white, female employees. She claims that the Sephora employee cut her off when she was speaking numerous times, and allegedly pointed the shopper out to a guard.

The customers explained why being interrupted several times and being pointed out to the security guard while shopping, can be interpreted as racial profiling. Both women confronting the Sephora employee, tried to explain the women that her methods are counterproductive to the store’s image, and that it speaks very poorly of the person imposing them.

Well, far from offering the girls store credit or a sincere apology, our subject denied the profiling allegations, and with the most fake smile you’ve ever seen on a person’s face she says, “I apologize you feel that way,” which is a subtle way of saying between lines, “I’m in the right and it’s your problem if you don’t like it.” After being told that her actions were of a racist nature, she then spewed another cringing gem, “You guys might not know this, but I’m from the hood,” and then started babbling about having “tons of black friends.”

This line of thought is so dangerous, because it’s solely based on prejudice, far from creating empathy with the customers, the employee automatically defended her position by assuming that these black girls are “from the hood”, thus justifying her racism, because people from the hood by her perspective, must surely be more inclined to shoplifting.

One would think that the employee’s actions are not just only uncalled for, but also completely reprehensible, however since the video was posted last Friday, it has received over two thousand polarizing comments, with many people siding with the customers, but also lots of people defending the employee and claiming that she was being unfairly attacked.

The Sephora employee, however, claims that she did no such thing and went on to apologize to the customer for making her feel that way. All that was fine and dandy until sis said, “You guys may not know this, but I’m actually from the hood,” also adding that she had a lot of black friends.
