What do Selena Quintanilla, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Romeo Santos, and Ricky Martin all have in common? Aside from being some of the most iconic and coveted Latino stars in the industry, these are the names of the stars who are a part of the new, Sabor Latino installation and Madame Tussauds New York. The instillation that launched this past July, has been the center of attention for many Latino music fans, especially given the fact that wax figures are created on a petition basis.

The more interesting fact about the installation, is that all of the artists coincidentally have some kind of connection to the queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla. Here’s how each one of the stars have their own unique connection to Selena…
Jennifer Lopez has the most obvious connection to the star, as she played Quintanilla in the hit movie, Selena, in 1997. Many say this was JLo’s claim to fame, skyrocketing her into the mega star that she is today.
Selena Gomez admits that her parents named her after the Tejano star, but this was not the original plan. Gomez’s parents initially wanted to name her Priscilla, but the name was taken by another family member shortly before Gomez was born. Being huge fans of Selena Quintanilla, they decided the name Selena was perfect for her.
Romeo Santos, King of Bachata may seem like the furthest connected to Quintanilla, but to our surprise he too had a love for the star, mentioning that if he had to take a photo with only one figure from the installation, Quintanilla would be his top pick.
Ricky Martin is another artist with an interesting connection to the star. The Latin pop star presented a Premio Lo Nuestro award along with Quintanilla back in 1995. At the time, Martin had long hair and a hit song we all know and love: Maria.
With all of the artists having some kind of connection to Selena Quintanilla, it is safe to say that no matter the day, time or year Selena Quintanilla not only remains as the Queen of Tejano but the queen of our hearts.
