Didn’t his momma ever tell him how extremely rude it is to mention a lady’s age? Well, a DJ from the Ufornia Nation radio show learned this lesson the hard way when he naively ousted the age of famous Mexican singer, and songwriter, Gloria Trevi.
Trevi isn’t exactly new to this business. She first came to fame with her debut album, ¿Qué Hago Aquí?, that featured her first hit single, Dr. Psiquiatra, a melody that is still a favorite at various nightclubs across Mexico.
When the singer sat down for her interview, Pancho Mercado started reminiscing old times with Trevi. They started talking about a YouTube video of her first gigs that just so happened to be quinceañeras where the singer is shown performing a Mecano cover of their Cruz De Navajas song.
Trevi mentioned that she felt a tad embarrassed for that video, given how old it was. René Pineda, the show’s DJ, apparently didn’t catch the message that Trevi wasn’t ready to get nostalgic and started formulating a question where he revealed that the singer of Pelo Suelto is 57-years-old.

“What?” the singer coldly responded as the entire studio froze in astonishment of Pineda’s screw up. Mercado quickly intervened, trying to save face for the radio show, “Shut up desgraciado! Your abuela is 57!”
Pineda kept pushing on the subject until he realized how upset the singer had become. It wasn’t even a small slip-up – Pineda emphasized the singer’s age, repeating, “57 right? You’re 57?”
“You know what? I think it’s not cool that they asked for my passport when I got here and that you looked at it and my date of birth,” said Trevi, who moments later started saying something to her assistant and stood up to leave the cabin.

The radio show hosts were desperately trying to fix the situation, apologizing for Pineda’s rudeness. All of a sudden, the singer turned back in what appeared was going to be a scolding, and said, “But guess what? It was all a joke,” and the singer burst into laughter.
Both Dj’s were so relieved that Trevi was not really upset. For a moment there, you could see that Pineda wasn’t too sure he would have his job the next day, but that’s what you get when you forget your manners at home.
