Sheila Camuy and Idelfonso Pérez got married at a cemetery for a touching reason. The couple chose the Mayagüez cemetery in Puerto Rico as the venue to be united in holy matrimony.
According to Puerto Rico newspaper, Primera Hora, the wedding started at 5:00 P.M. and it was beautiful. Sheila Camuy, whose father and child passed away, chose this cemetery because she wanted them present on this special day.
“It was very important that they were present at my wedding,” Camuy told Primera Hora. “If that had not been the case I wouldn’t have done this.”

From the pictures and news portal, Camuy arrived at the cemetery in a hearse. It was adorned with a garland of flowers that matched her black gown and a veil of the same color.
During the ceremony, a coffin was the altar where the nuptial magic occurred in front of family and friends from both sides. They were all dressed in black, as required by the dress code.
Javier Granel and Lynette Matos, the owners of the Fernández funeral home, provided the coffin and the flowers for the wedding. This unorthodox wedding is reminiscent of the popular 1993 cult film The Nightmare Before Christmas.
It’s still a little weird to use coffin and wedding in the same sentence. According to Primera Hora, the bride’s mother was a feeling a little uneasy about her daughters choice of venue, but she came around eventually.
“In that aspect what she hated a little bit was the cemetery, but she supports me in everything,” said Camuy. “She respects my beliefs, that are believing in God very much, as well as all of you, so it is a matter of respecting the opinions of each one.”
Camuy also explained that the coffin was important because it is the last place where all humans go. “We all go there, independently, even though we are ashes, we go there,” Camuy said.
The groom is very much in love with his now wife. He reportedly never had any problems fulfilling the desires of the woman he plans on spending forever with.
“I agree because here it is that her relatives, her loved ones, her father, her son, her uncles, her grandmother are,” explained Pérez to Primera Hora.
