Pitbull, the singer of Puerto Rican descent, joined a handful of celebrities in helping victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The entire island is without electricity, so Pitbull sent his private plane to escort cancer patients to the United States for chemotherapy.
Puerto Rican Congresswoman, Jennifer Gonzalez, thanked Pitbull for his generosity through her personal Twitter handle:

The 36-year-old singer/rapper has yet to speak about his role in the aid sent to the cancer patients. Although, a spokesperson of his did mention that Pitbull is just doing his part and happy that he’s able to help others in need.
Puerto Rico has 69 hospitals throughout the island, but after Hurricane Maria, only 11 had fuel and electricity. Nearly half of Puerto Ricans don’t have running water at the moment, and the rest of the American territory is in ruins.
Many residents of Puerto Rico don’t have any way to contact their families since Hurricane Maria hit the Caribbean island. Ten people have reportedly been found dead, and the Federal Agency of Handling Emergencies reports that almost 1.6 million people have no electricity.
Yulin Cruz, mayor of San Juan, says at least 12 children currently depend on battery-powered generators to keep the fans running at San Jorge Children’s Hospital. She also stated that two patients passed away in intensive care after the hospital ran out of diesel.
The island’s biggest and main airport was also affected by the storm, and only ten commercial flights have traveled from Puerto Rico to the United States since Monday. Airlines are trying to send the largest planes so the most amount of people can reach America in the least amount of flights possible.
Donald Trump and his administration were slow to react to the tragedy in Puerto Rico, but many artists have stood up for their island. Ricky Martin and Daddy Yankee are two Puerto Ricans who have sent messages of hope and urged people to help Puerto Rico.
On Twitter, Ricky Martin published a video saying, “I feel a lot of pain. If it were up to me I’d hop on a plane right now and start working hard, but they don’t recommend it. To get rid of this anguish, I’ve decided to create a catastrophe fund. If you give me one dollar – just one dollar – I promise it will get to where it needs to be.”
Daddy Yankee also took to Twitter to ask people to donate supplies at his concert in New York. “#NYC please bring tonight bottles of water, diapers, batteries! At my concert at the @FordAmpConey #ConeyIsland let’s support my island.”
