Oklahoma Teacher Arrested After Getting Caught Sexting With A Teenage Student

It seems that we get a lot of stories like this as of late, Oklahoma authorities have arrested a 22-year-old teacher for having an amorous and inappropriate relationship with one of her students. The boy’s mother found out about the illicit affair after going through her son’s cellphone and uncovering evidence in the form of raunchy texts and pictures.

According to News 9 reports, the teacher whose name is Hunter Day teaches science at Yukon High School and has now been charged with second-degree rape, facilitating sexual contact with a minor and possession of child pornography.
Day is actually married to one the high school’s football coaches and she was hired to teach for the first time by the Yukon Public School District through an emergency teaching certificate.

Fresh out of college, Day did not have prior experience in teaching and actually featured a news segment in News 9 where she discussed emergency teaching certifications only last month. “This is a classic case of a serious breach of trust,” Canadian County Sheriff Chris West told News 9. “School teachers are entrusted to protect and educate our children, not to engage in an unlawful sexual relationship with them.”

When taken into custody, the 22-year-old teacher admitted to exchanging risque photographs of her with the 16-year-old student, she said that she had sent “bra and panty” photos of herself and that she received pictures of the student’s private parts.

Investigators also reported that Day and the boy had arranged a meeting on the day of her arrest. When the police arrived at Day’s home, she received a message from the boy’s phone, saying, “I’m here” to which the teacher responded, “The doors [sic] unlocked as usual.”

“This behavior was representative of a very poor decision by a person entrusted with teaching our students,” Superintendent Dr. Jason Simeroth said in a statement. “The safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority.” he continued “Yukon utilizes application references, interviewing protocols and state background checks prior to hiring an employee in the district in an effort to protect our students.”

Simeroth said that nothing during Day’s hiring process suggested that she was capable of doing such a thing. After posting an $85,000 bond, the science teacher was released from the Canadian County Jail where shew as being held.
