A New Unedited Interview Of Selena Quintanilla Has Surfaced

While she recorded her first album in English. “Dreaming of You” in 1994, Selena gave an interview to Ana María Canseco. The unedited video has surfaced on YouTube and it has nearly one million views.

The video portrays the singer’s sense of humor, as she couldn’t help but laugh at herself for not understanding the first questions: “How often do you get to relax, if you do get some rest?” She just went “hmmm”, as in she didn’t know what rest meant.

She also demonstrated the kindness she had towards to the press, and even offered to fix a part of the reporter’s outfit, who asked her if there was any jealousy from her brothers, since she had achieved international fame.

Selena Quintanilla cleared up that jealousy was never a problema because her, and the rest of the family, knew that they were a tema. The star also talked about her plans for the future, which were halted when she was victim of cold blooded murder in the hands of Yolanda Saldívar.

The singer explains in the interview: “My plans for the future is to become an international artist, not only of Mexican music but English music as well. I don’t have to be successful in the English market, I just have to try to be the best that I can be. And trying is enough for me.”

She also pointed out that despite living a long time in San Antonio, Texas, she preferred to live in smaller towns, where she could have peace and live a more normal life.

You can hear in the interview that she struggled to speak perfect Spanish, so she paused it at times to ask the meaning of some words. This is because Selena first learned to sing in Spanish, learning how to speak her second language afterwards.

The interviewer, Ana María Canseco, remembered the singer on her website: “I interviewed her lots of times when I used to work in Houston, Texas. Actually, the first interview I ever did was precisely with Selena.”

The journalist continued: “Now that it has been more than two decades since her death, I remember her very fondly because of her warmth as a person and not her fame, but I have also always loved all of her songs.”

Selena Quintanilla died on March, 1995, and her death left an ever lasting impression on the music industry. Despite the huge loss that it was, her fans and news outlets still remember her.
