After parting ways with actor Kevin Spade and comedian Louis C.K., Netflix received a lot of backlash for not doing the same with Danny Masterson over the sexual assault allegations that follow him. After mounting allegations against the That 70’s Show and The Ranch star, Netflix finally decided to fire him on Monday.
Netflix said in a statement, “As a result of ongoing discussions, Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of The Ranch. Yesterday was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him.”
Masterson played Jameson ‘Rooster’ Bennett on the Netflix Original Series The Ranch alongside longtime friend Ashton Kutcher, who plays Masterson’s brother Colt Bennett. The two actors launched their careers together on That 70’s Show.
In March, three women came forward and accused Masterson of sexual assault, according to the LAPD. Masterson, who is a Scientologist, said the allegations were lies and blamed actress Leah Remi for scheming against him to boost ratings of her A&E docuseries Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.
One of the alleged victims of Masterson told the HuffingtonPost that she approached a Netflix executive and asked him why they had not fired the actor yet. He replied that he didn’t believe the claims, and she began to cry and yelled, “I hope no one ever says that to your daughter.”
Danny Masterson, 41, will still appear in the final half of the current second season of The Ranch set to get released December 15th. ThePetitionSite.com has nearly 40,000 people urging Netflix to cancel The Ranch altogether.
