Yolanda Saldivar, responsible for Selena Quintanilla’s fatal shooting, recently admitted guilt after two decades in prison. The Reelz Channel is now taking another look at Saldivar’s motives as part of their series “Murder Made Me Famous.”
In the sneak peek of the episode, Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, is reenacted in the office of Saldivar. He is yelling at her for money that went missing, and both Selena and her sister are in the room as Saldivar deflects the questions.
Saldivar was stealing money from Selena’s store during her time as the Tejano singer’s fan club president. She also stole money from the company’s bank account and the fan club itself, firing employees due to cash flow problems she created.
Tom Whitehurst, the opinion editor at Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Joe Nick Patoski, author of “Selena: Como La Flor,” and Carlos Valdez, the prosecutor in the Saldivar trial are all interviewed in the episode along with Larry Young, the former Corpus Christi detective, and Lead Saldivar negotiator. “Murder Made Me Famous: Yolanda Saldivar” will air December 9th.
Saldivar will be eligible for parole March 30th, 2025. She currently is imprisoned at the Mountain View Unit in Gatesville, Texas.
