Mexico Drug Dealer Using Facebook To Run Online U.S. Drug Operation Busted

After illegally entering and establishing a distribution network in Washington State, the drug trafficker was forced to flee back to Mexico due to a weapons investigation.

Illegally paying a human smuggler $6,000 at the beginning of 2010, Jesus Enrique “El Ricky” Palomera was able to enter the U.S. and made his way to Tacoma, Washington. There, he established a drug distribution network that ran throughout the state.

It was the sale of an AR-15-type rifle which proved to be his undoing. The buyer was none other than an undercover officer – member of an investigative probe targeting the illegal sale of firearms. Further conversation driven from him by an undercover authority would later lead to a discussion about the murder of a man who had stolen drugs from him.

Palomera, however, was able to flee before federal authorities got to him. He hid in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, where he would begin to process drug orders via Facebook.

Clients would wire money to a Mexican bank account and Palomera would then oversee the shipment of methamphetamine from Mexico into California, Oregon, and Washington so that it may be delivered. Mexican authorities arrested him in June 2015 and extradited to Washington in July 2016.

Pleading guilty to his drug trafficking charges earlier this month, Palomera will be sentenced by February 2018.
