One moment you’re thirsty and go to the store for some refreshing beverages. The next moment you get locked inside the cooler and have no other choice but to drink the beer in order to survive.
This is exactly what happened with a 38-year-old man from Marshfield, Wisconsin. Police say he decided to buy beer but instead got locked inside the cooler and stayed overnight. Making the best of a bad situation, the man helped himself to some drinks and is now facing two citations for drinking the beer.

According to the police report, a manager of the Kwik Trip in 101 N. Central Avenue, Marshfield, reported that a grown man had been locked in a beer cooler all night and that he had helped himself to the beer while locked inside. This occurred last Wednesday at 6:13 A.M.

The man who was taken into custody by the police said that he had originally planned to buy some beer from Kwik Trip, but destiny had other plans for him. The beer cooler doors locked behind him at about 11:50 P.M. when the store was about to stop selling liquor.
According to the report, the man said that since he was already planning to buy the beer, it made no difference if he drank it there. After all, something had to make up for the inconvenience of being locked inside a cooler on a Tuesday night.
What the man failed to mention, though, was that the cooler has a glass door. He could have just as easily knocked so employees could have heard him and let him out. But if he had done so, this story wouldn’t be as funny and interesting as it is.

It was a customer who found the almost frozen man inside the cooler at 5:50 A.M. on Wednesday. He told the Kwik Trip employees about the bizarre situation and when they opened the door, the man fled the store without paying for the beer he had drunk.
According to the report, the manager claimed that the man had drunk an 18-ounce bottle of beer and three cans of malt beverage, which is pretty lightweight for somebody who was locked up all night. He also drunkenly fell over a stack of beer cases, breaking three of them.
