Jackie Garza from Texas was worried about her father’s panaderia going out of business. She saved it thanks to a Twitter message.
Her Twitter message read: “HEY YALL MY DAD HAS A LITTLE PANADERIA/ RESTAURANT. HE MAKES ALL OF THE PAN DULCE HIMSELF. HE BEEN THINKING ABOUT CLOSING BUT I CANT LET THAT HAPPEN, SPREAD THE WORD 1 RT COULD BRING IN A POTENTIAL CUSTOMER! LA CASA BAKERY AND CAFE 1002 HOGAN STREET 77009!!”

Her father, Trinidad Garza was about to sell ‘La Casa Bakery’ due to low sales since Hurricane Harvey. “He told my mom he was thinking about selling, and he even had an offer,” she said.
“I begged him not to sell, to wait for me to get through college and then make me a part owner,” she continued. “I know all the hard work my parents put into this. They work from early in the morning until late at night, even though we close at 5 p.m. The quality of the food and the authenticity of it is amazing.”
The tweet went viral with thousands of retweets and likes, and over 1 million video views. Garza knew she had to continue with the tendency, so she marketed the dishes they served at the bakery/restaurant.

Even though her 70-year-old father said he “didn’t know anything about Twitter,” his daughter was really into social media. “I’m now in charge of all the social accounts, and I’ve set up a Twitter account for La Casa, we’re on Yelp now, and I’m working on a web page,” Jackie said. She even posted a photo of a couple of customers who were supporting the cause.
“This couple drove 45 minutes to come to my Bakery. I literally broke down in tears as she told me how much she supported what I was doing. So many people have come up to me and talking about everything that’s been going on, and I’m still shocked at the fact that TWITTER DID THIS. I’m forever thankful for every network that contacted me to take the time out of their day to sit down and talk to me. Every article that has written about us. This feels so surreal. #blessed.”
