Latina Fitness Model Builds YouTube Empire With Handicapped Boyfriend

Garrett Greer, who was paralyzed in 2010 after he broke his neck, is not just a poker champion with over $2 million in winnings, he’s also a stellar exercise companion. His amazing story is being told thanks to his 31-year-old girlfriend Jessica Arévalo, IFBB athlete and YouTuber. Jessica has been posting her heartwarming workout videos to her 2.3 million Instagram followers and 186,000 Youtube subscribers.

The couple, who recently moved into Greer’s Santa Monica home, have made a positive impact online after posting their workout videos. Though Garrett cannot workout his lower physique and has restricted functioning in his upper physique, he still manages to strengthen the muscles he can healthily manage.

Jessica, who got into bodybuilding in her late 20s and has competed in over 33 bikini competitions, also runs an online fashion store called “WalkinmyFashion”.

She managed to convince Garrett to publish their couple exercises on Instagram, where she currently has more than 2.7 million follower and features her YouTube ventures in addition to her workouts. One of the couple’s videos, which show Jessica and Garrett lifting weights as she straddles him, went crazy viral!

After spending several months in Las Vegas, where Garrett played poker, he’s now getting back into the five-day-a-week training regimen he practiced before the trip, thanks to Jessica’s inspiration. “It’s cool when she comes over and spots me during sets, or corrects my form,” he says of his sometimes coach, who helps Garrett discover new exercises to try.

Garrett’s type of paralysis is rather unique, as he can still move his biceps, not triceps; the tops of his forearms, but not the bottom of them; and his chest and upper back, but not his core.  He has no dexterity in his hands, although he can move his wrists in a way that tightens his fingers to create a faux grip.

Due to this limited hand functioning, Garrett uses special gloves to grip free weights, medicine balls with straps, and wrist cuffs with hooks to hang onto cable machines. Although there’s no guarantee Garrett will ever regain full control or feeling in his body, he has been told that exercise may encourage nerve regeneration.

Now, the couple has moved in together, and Garrett says he’s back into the swing of things, all thanks to his best friend’s support. The couple is certainly #RelationshipGoals, #FitnessGoals, and #FitInspiration all wrapped into one adorable package.
