When Kate del Castillo met Joaquin El Chapo Guzman Loera, the whole world wanted to know what transpired that day. The truth will finally get revealed through a three-part Netflix DocuSeries titled “The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate del Castillo Story” that will tell the truth about that event.
Its release date, set for October 20th, is up in the air due to Sean Penn saying some bits are inaccurate. Tensions between Penn and the telenovela star persist, with Kate stating that Penn hid his real motives of his involvement in the interview with El Chapo.
She also said that Penn’s Rolling Stone interview has inaccuracies, including his version of the encounter with the Mexican military. Penn assured that the Mexican government launched a witchhunt against him, but Kate says that is not true whatsoever.
El Chapo gave Kate del Castillo the rights to his life, saying she stands up to the government and always tells the truth. Audiences will learn the truth soon enough, when “The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate del Castillo Story” gets released.
Kate del Castillo stated in an interview with Spanish show “El Gordo Y La Flaca,” that she couldn’t say much about the subject before due to an open investigation against her. “This is the first time I will tell my truth,” she said. “The documentary will reveal many things that occurred since my visit to Sinaloa with Mr. Guzman.”
The three-part DocuSeries will start with the build-up to the meeting with El Chapo, in the first episode. Episode two will focus on the day of the meeting, while the final episode will explain the events that happened after the interview.
Kate del Castillo recently submitted a request to visit El Chapo in his maximum-security prison in New York. El Chapo got extradited to the United States, and she hopes to continue the interview with him to make a film about his life.
The actress also faced a difficult time after the release of her interview with Guzman. Mexican government officials called for her arrest, and she had to stay in the United States to avoid getting detained by Mexican authorities.
In her interview with “El Gordo Y La Flaca,” she said, “The difficult part was not meeting with this man. It was the attacks by the press and the Mexican government that was hard. But that is in the past now and we want to move on.”
