J-Lo Can’t Contact Family, Urges Followers To Help Puerto Rico

The Caribbean is experiencing a terrible time after getting hit by Hurricane Irma and now Hurricane Maria. Puerto Rico is the home to many talented artists like Marc Anthony and Daddy Yankee, who have used their celebrity status to ask the world for their help.

Jennifer Lopez, although born in the United States, is the daughter of Puerto Rican parents and she too has expressed concern regarding the situation. She’s especially distraught because she can’t communicate with her family since the storm first hit the island.

J-Lo took to her Instagram account to post a video asking for donations for the Caribbean island. She was evidently not in the best of moods, flaunting a bare skin without an ounce of make-up on, but her image is not what’s important at the moment.

“Hi, I’m Jennifer Lopez. Not my most glamorous look right now I know, I’m working in Vegas right now, but that’s not really important. What’s on my mind is what’s going on in Puerto Rico, the devastation is beyond belief. Me and my cousins still haven’t been able to hear from our families over there.” – Jennifer Lopez

The video of J-Lo asking to spread the word for her fellow brothers and sisters generated millions of views in a matter of hours. She also urged her followers to visit the website www.unitedforpuertorico.com to donate funds for the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

Lopez continued:

“Foremost on my mind and many others is trying to figure out the best way to help. The island of Puerto Rico has been hit by two of the most devastating hurricanes we have ever seen: Irma and Maria. Today Puerto Rico needs our help. I urge you to support and donate to the efforts of the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló. Together we can help rebuild our island and the Caribbean. Los quiero y nuestras oraciones están con ustedes.” – Jennifer Lopez

Another Puerto Rican artist helping the cause is Ricky Martin, who also uploaded a video on his social media platforms begging viewers to donate money to victims of Hurricane Maria. He said even the smallest donation of one dollar would get to the right people.

Since posting his video on Twitter, Ricky Martin raised nearly half a million dollars for the people of Puerto Rico. Daddy Yankee, on the other hand, gathered supplies at his concert in New York and sent boxes of help to the island.
