George Lopez Goes After Trump’s “Wall”

HBO
The iconic comedian, George Lopez, is coming back with a new HBO comedy special called “The Wall”. This highly-anticipated, politically-fueled show plans to address some tough subjects, most notably building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, while also giving him a platform to comedically criticize the President of the United States.

In a recent interview with National Public Radio, Lopez was clear about his intention with the special. In the interview, George spoke of his own father who worked as a dig-ditcher. A grueling job that left a lasting impression on a young George. Seeing his father work so hard and now witnessing people just like him being depicted as lazy and engaging in criminal activity added the fuel to George’s fire.

Lopez believes that there needs to be an inclusive discussion on the topic of immigration as well as a deep dive into the history of how people in the United State got here. He stated that if everyone “went back to where they came from” native Americans would be the only ones left to rightfully claim the U.S. as their country.

You can check out George’s special on HBO Now and HBO Go.
