Gal Gadot is reportedly refusing to play Wonder Woman for the 2019 sequel if Brett Ratner remains connected to the project. Ratner, who is one of the latest Hollywood men accused of sexual misconduct, owns RatPac-Dune Entertainment, the company co-financing Wonder Woman.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Ratner allegedly forced oral sex on a woman and is now getting accused of masturbating in a car next to an unknown model. Ratner’s representatives denied the sexual harassment claims, but Gadot refuses to work with him anyway.
Gadot wants Warner Bros. to buy Ratner’s financial deal if they plan on having her in the sequel. An unnamed source reportedly close to Gadot said she backed out of a dinner for Ratner last month because of the current sexual misconduct allegations against him.
The Israeli actress believes the Wonder Woman film tells a story of female empowerment and that it would be wrong to involve Ratner. Although she will appear as Wonder Woman in the Justice League movie premiering November 17th, Gadot won’t continue with the DC project if Ratner doesn’t get booted.
True to its female empowerment theme, Wonder Woman became the highest-grossing, live action movie directed by a woman. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film grossed over $800 million globally, with more than 50 percent of revenue coming from domestic screens.
Representatives for both Gadot and Ratner have yet to comment on the issue, but a Warner Bros. rep says the claims of Gadot’s demands are false. Page Six reported these claims first and hailed Gadot for trying to take on this sensitive topic.
“She’s tough and stands by her principles. She also knows the best way to hit people like Brett Ratner is in the wallet,” explained a Page Six source. “She also knows that Warner Bros. has to side with her on this issue as it develops.”

Warner Bros. already cut ties with Ratner due to the allegations by actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge. Ratner has denied the allegations time and time again, but Gadot keeps on sending indirect messages to the producer via Instagram posts.
About a week ago, she uploaded a picture to her IG account that read, “Bullying and sexual harassment are unacceptable! I stand by all the courageous women confronting their fears and speaking out. Together we stand. We are all united in this time of change.”
