‘Doñita’ Cheats Death As Glass Roof Collapses During Mexico’s Earthquake

There’s a Spanish proverb that goes “Cuando te toca, te toca y cuando no, ni aunque te pongas”, it means that when your time is up, it’s up, and when it isn’t your turn, it doesn’t matter if you stand in death’s way, you won’t be taken.

Surely, that’s what the lady in the video below must have thought, after she twice dodged large chunks of glass, that were falling from the ceiling of the Angelópolis Lifestyle Center in the city of Puebla, during the devastating 7.1 magnitude earthquake

As you can see from the video, this lucky lady, nonchalantly stares at death cold in the face, and denies the reaper twice in a matter of 20 seconds.

This unknown woman gathered her senses just in time, before a large glass pane came crashing down where she was standing, sending shattered shards of glass everywhere.

The city of Puebla is located 40 miles east from Morelos, where the epicenter of the earthquake took place. As of now, authorities have confirmed 43 deaths in the area, including the 15 people who died during mass, when a church located in the slopes of the Popocatepetl volcano, tragically collapsed.

Other shocking videos, came from the canals of Xochimilco which are located in Mexico City. Alyne Tamir, an American tourist who was vacationing in Mexico, managed to film the earthquake as all boats, including hers, were being thrown about in the water as the tremor hit with all its might.

We can even hear Alyne saying “It’s not a good idea to be on this boat”. Fortunately for her and her friends, it was nothing more but a scare, since nobody in the canal was hurt during the quake.

In another part of town, ForoTV anchorman Enrique Campos, had his live broadcast violently interrupted when the earthquake struck. Mr. Campos calmly informed people about the situation and urged them to remain calm before evacuating the area himself. As soon as he stands up, we can see the whole studio collapse into chaos.

It’s worth noting, that this earthquake took place only 11 days after the deathly 8.4 telluric current of southern Mexican state Chiapas, and hours after the nationwide seismic drills that commemorate the anniversary of the 1985 Mexico city earthquake, that took place on the same date, September 19th.

The total death toll as of now stands at  248, with most of those deaths coming from, Mexico City.
