Daddy Yankee Helps A Food Bank Keep Tons of Food From Going BAD

When Hurricane Maria first hit Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee stopped all his plans to help the victims of the storm. He’s dedicating all of his time and energy to the island which he calls home, donating one million dollars to the cause.

His latest act of kindness came when he got word that a food bank in Puerto Rico ran out of diesel for the generator that keeps the refrigerator running. The food bank didn’t know what to do to keep 25,000 pounds of food refrigerated.

Daddy Yankee had previously donated $100,000 to that entity, but he didn’t hesitate to go the extra mile. The Despacito star mobilized his entourage and in no time had 200 gallons of diesel for the food bank’s generator.

Born Ramon Luis Ayala, the Puerto Rican artist is personally helping distribute boxes of food and supplies. Although the American government donated food, as well, Daddy Yankee’s donations are much more generous, supplying the island with 59 pounds of food.

The boxes that the Reggaetonero donated include beans, rice, tuna, pasta, meat, and milk. Meanwhile, the boxes of food sent by the government only have canned beef hash, crackers, a small packet of fruit, and a tiny portion of peanut butter.

Besides his generous contributions, Daddy Yankee is reportedly making appearances in poor devastated neighborhoods. Social media posts say he’s been giving bags of ice to different homes and went to an elderly man’s house to give him an electric energy generator.

Another source also tells the story of Daddy Yankee pulling over on the side of the road to help a fellow driver in need. Fan videos show the people’s happiness when they see who’s helping, but Daddy Yankee humbly tells them that they should only thank God, not him.

The Gasolina creator donated $1 million to the relief fund for Hurricane Maria victims, but he won’t stop there. Sources close to the artist revealed that his next project is reconstructing the homes affected by the storm.

Daddy Yankee gives hope to Puerto Ricans who have yet to receive any real help from the American government. If it wasn’t for philanthropic individuals like Yankee, the people of Puerto Rico would not stand a chance during reconstruction.

Many Puerto Rican public figures, including Daddy Yankee, criticize the Trump administration for being so passive with the American territory. The government seems to have forgotten that Puerto Ricans are also American citizens, but at least they have Daddy Yankee in this time of despair.
