As work continues on prototypes for President Donald Trump’s border wall, so does the apprehension of undocumented immigrants inside the construction zone. According to U.S. Custom & Border Protection officials, a group of five men and women jumped over the current fence that separates Mexico and the United States in the Otay Mesa area and then proceeded to turn themselves in the are where the prototypes are being built.
It turned out this group made by three men and two women, between ages 19 and 30, came from Nepal and not from Mexico, it seemed that the group hopped the 7-foot-fence separating Mexico and the construction site, with the intentions of finding CBP officers so they could make a formal request for asylum by claiming credible fear of return.

But this wouldn’t be the first case of people appearing suddenly at this site, and even though CBP official don’t track apprehensions by location, they did the say that similar incidents have occurred before but without that measurement data, they can’t confirm exactly how many times exactly.
The area where the prototypes are being built is a popular crossing point for immigrants according to U.S. Border Patrol Supervisory Agent Mark Endicott, who says it’s its proximity with Tijuana and the climbable wall, meant mainly for stopping vehicles being the only physical barrier, why this area has become so concurred with undocumented immigrants.

The larger secondary wall that also protects a water treatment facility, stretches about 13 miles from the coast, ending just before the construction zone where the eight border wall prototypes sit waiting for final approval that should be completed by no later than next Thursday, October 26.
It could be expected that many more attempts by immigrants to reach the construction site will happen during the time the wall is being built.

It could be also that immigrants are doing reconnaissance operations in the construction area, or that all the heavy machinery and different types of walls are attracting curious observers so they can lay witness to one the most ambitious infrastructural projects in modern history.

Whatever wall is approved next Thursday and if or when Congress provides the necessary funding for its construction, it would mean that nearly 2,000 miles that separate the country’s territories will be covered by said wall, stretching through many different time zones and habitats, something that has alerted many environmentalists on both sides of the wall.
