Bruno Mars Sued For His #TBT

Thursdays are a favorite among hardcore social media users, it’s the day where one can upload a throwback picture and reminisce about old times, goofy hairstyles, bell bottoms and other questionable fashion choices that we can now laugh at, but for Bruno Mars an innocent #TBT landed the singer in a legal mess that we’re sure he wasn’t expecting at all.

The singer of “Just The Way You Are” posted an adorable picture of himself from 1989 when he was just getting started in show business by doing Elvis impersonations as part of his family’s musical acts in his birthplace of Hawaii. “When you’re too impatient for Throwback Thursday so you fully embrace Way Back Wednesday. #1989” a fearless Bruno Mars captioned his picture never expecting what was going to happen next.

The heartwarming image racked up over one million likes on Instagram and counting, however, none of those likes acknowledged Catherine McGann, the photographer who allegedly took that picture and has the copyrights to it. Now, reports are indicating that McGann is suing the five-time Grammy award winner and his record label, Warner Music, for royalties from the multi-instrumentalist singer’s Instagram account.

The people of Bruno Mars are yet to release a statement about the issue and the 24 K Magic singer hasn’t deleted the picture from his feed, so maybe it’s been hyped more than it is, but if the case was to go through, this could set a precedent as to how celebrities will express themselves from now on.

Because if a baby picture can land you on hot water like that, social media usage and trying to be a regular person will become impossible for celebrated entertainers everywhere in America. The 32-year-old crooner has always been open about his beginnings and there are multiple home videos out there circulating of Mars performing at several events when he was still not famous and only a kid.

Regardless of this cringe-worthy move by Catherine McGann, Mars has been enjoying an amazing 2017, and he recently became the AMA Artist of the Year, winning above the likes of The Chainsmokers, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran.

He also collected awards for Best Male Artist Pop/Rock, Favorite Album and Song Soul/R&B for 24 K Magic, Video Of The Year for “That’s What I Like” among other awards that just keep racking up.
