Astros Player Proposes To Girlfriend At Stadium After Winning The World Series

It’s only natural that Houston Astros Puerto Rican shortstop Carlos Correa would come full circle after becoming a World Series champion and propose to his girlfriend on live television while celebrating his team’s victory, “Daniela Rodriguez,” starts the 23-year-old ballplayer, “You make me the happiest man in the world, will you marry me?” asked Correa as Daniela’s eyes welled up with blissful tears and broke the barrier separating the lovers to embrace her now fiance in a kiss that broke cheers among the crowd.

“Perfect timing for me to get engaged,” Correa told ESPN, adding that he had been thinking about asking the 2016 Miss Texas USA’s hand for months but that he was waiting for the perfect opportunity, and what better opportunity than a World Series championship atmosphere to take that next big step in life, surely a magical night for the young Latin couple that will remember this moment for the rest of their lives.

Correa was destined for greatness since early on, the shortstop was an honor roll graduate of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School becoming the highest selection to come directly from a Puerto Rican high school, thus granting him the honor of becoming only the the third Latino to be the first overall selection in the MLB Draft, after Alex Rodriguez and Adrian González, as well as the first Puerto Rican and Latin American-born player to do so back in 2012 when he was drafted by the Astros, 3 years later Correa would make his MLB debut, and in the same year, he won the American League Rookie of the Year Award.

Correa went 3-5 in Game 5 of the World Series against the Dodgers, on this game the Puerto Rican clubbed an RBI double and 1 of the 5 home runs that his team struck to defeat the Los Angeles team 13-12. His effort helped to set the record for more home runs in a World Series. The game lasted 5:17 hours becoming the second-longest World Series in history. The Astros won the World Series in Game 7 giving them their first title in history.
