The original version of ‘It’ is the cause of many people’s fear of clowns. The 2017 version is horrifying, as well, however, one of the most iconic parts of the movie recently got changed a bit to provide a humoristic touch.
If you’re familiar with the movie [if not, spoiler alert!], you should know about the heartbreaking and horrible scene where little Georgie, sailing a paper boat down the gutter of the street, discovers Pennywise inside the storm drain. What happens next will shock you as it is very different from the original story.
In this version, Pennywise the Dancing Clown seems to be terrible at scaring or eating children. The clip shows little Georgie Denbrough, wearing his iconic yellow raincoat, running in the rain chasing his paper boat which he sees going down the storm drain.
Georgie reaches the storm drain and encounters a smiley Pennywise holding his boat. Nothing strange, right? When the clown asks Georgie to take his boat back – that’s the highlight of the whole scene.
Georgie grabs his boat from the clown’s hand and runs away. Pennywise just frowns and says “Oh F***.”
Pennywise actor, Bill Skarsgard, said in an interview that he didn’t remember shooting the scene but was a funny idea. The bonus features for the Blu-ray version includes the alternate beginning.
