Over 40 Undocumented Immigrants Found In Refrigerated Trucks

Immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador were found in refrigerated trucks when attempting to cross the border to the United States. According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), they located 19 individuals at the Falfurrias checkpoint and later found 25 others at the same spot.

Border Patrol Agent, Robert Rodriguez, said that the 44 will get processed according to their immigration status and that both truck drivers got arrested. Investigators are working to find out if the two incidents are related or not.

Despite the trucks’ temperatures of around 45 degrees Fahrenheit, none of the immigrants required medical attention. The incident at the South Texas checkpoint is only one more of the many cases of immigrants trying to reach the “American Dream” in hopes for a better future.

These 44 were lucky enough to embark on this dangerous adventure on board of refrigerated trucks. Many fatalities have occurred in the past.

Men, women, and children have died of dehydration or accidents. One of the most recent ones happened back in July of this year, in San Antonio, where eight people were found dead, and 30 others suffered severe dehydration in the back of a suffocating truck.
