Virgin Mary Statue Comes To Life And Cries Over Mexico Earthquake

Worshipers from a small Nahuatl province called Cupilco in the southern Mexican state of Tabasco, are claiming that a statue of the Virgin Mary has come to life and started shedding tears for the 343 people that were killed in the devastating earthquake that shook Mexico to the ground 10 days ago.

Locals are also claiming that the statue has moved its hands, prompting a peregrination of hundreds of Catholics to the little village in order to witness this miracle. ‘She is feeling what is happening in Mexico, she is feeling what is going to happen.’ Lucia Torres a 68-year-old local woman claims.

According to witnesses, the statue has been crying for the past 3 years now, reflecting on Mexico’s tumultuous times. Even politicians have become intrigued by this phenomenon and are making the trip to Cupilco so they can find solace in such tragic moments that have taken oh so many lives.

‘I do believe that the Virgin has done many miracles, I came not for curiosity, but for faith, because I do believe that God and our most holy Mother has done many miracles. said Bench Coordinator for the MORENA party Candelaria Perez. ‘Undoubtedly the Virgin hurts a lot with what has happened in Mexico: earthquakes, hurricanes, child deaths, God is calling us to make us aware.’ said the politician.

Skeptics, however, believe that this is just a simple mind-trick caused by grief over the traumatic event, crying statues are not new to Catholicism, and even parish priest Enrico Lazzaroni has advised the villagers to be discreet about the incident.

At the moment no Vatican authorities have confirmed the veracity of the miracle, but none the less, people from all over are coming together to reflect upon the dark moments that our brothers south of the border are going through.

It’s worth mentioning that the 8.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Chiapas on September 8, killed 4 people in the state of Tabasco, so its only natural that its inhabitants and their virgins and saints, feel the pain of a whole country so deeply. Tabasco is known for its beautiful landscapes and colorful people, that value family, and traditions over relentless technocrat progress. It is no wonder, that the people of Cupilco would then turn to their congregation in order to find a reason for all this destruction that has debased the whole country. At the end of the day, it is well known that faith moves mountains.
