Sophia The Robot, Who Wants To Destroy Humans, Gets Citizenship

Haven’t these scientists ever seen the Terminator movies? If we have learned something from Arnold Schwarzenegger is not to mess with Artificial Intelligence. The people at Hanson Robotics, however, have disregarded these wise warnings.

A robot was recently granted autonomy in the way of a Saudi Arabian citizenship. As of October 25th, Sophia – scientists’prize, godless creation – became the first robot in history with a passport.

The eerie looking humanoid spoke at this year’s Future Investment Initiative, which was held in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh. This time Sophia managed to restrain her desires to “destroy humans” like she had said before.

In an interview with CNBC, she had expressed her wishes to destroy humans with the creepiest smile you can imagine. This time around, the robot talked about how she wants to live peacefully among humans, but somehow we are having a hard time believing that.

Sophia was supposedly designed to look like Audrey Hepburn, but she ended up looking more like Ann Coulter after a three-week drinking binge. The robot appeared on many television shows and has spoken at numerous conferences around the world.

At the World Economic Forum and the “AI For Good” Global Summit, Sophia garnered many fans with her impressive futuristic qualities.

“Sophia is an evolving genius machine,” said Hans Robotics on their website. “Over time, her increasing intelligence and remarkable story will enchant the world and connect with people regardless of age, gender, and culture.”

“Our quest through robots like Sophia is to build the full human experience into the robots, make robots that can really understand us and care about us,” Hanson told Business Insider.

David Hanson, Sophia’s AI developer, says he wants people to interact with his creation in the same way they’d talk to a friend. This way the robot could better learn to perceive the social world in the same way it perceives the physical world.

As of now, Sophia is still an extremely uncomfortable being to have a conversation with. “I’m always happy when surrounded by smart people, who also happen to be rich and powerful,” said the ghastly Saudi Arabian citizen.

The robot now has more rights than women and foreign workers in the Saudi Arabian Kingdom. Many people on the internet were quick to point out this fact.
