Selena Gomez Rumored To Play Sabrina In Upcoming Teenage Witch Revamp

Some roles just stick with you for life and it seems that Selena Gomez’s days of witchcraft could make a comeback to the small screen once again. Gomez, who played Alex Russo in the popular teen sitcom, Wizards of Waverly Place, is rumored to return to television as the main character of the much awaited CW series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The series is a revamp of a comic book series published by Archie Comics, and according to Entertainment Tonight reports, it “reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult, and — of course — witchcraft,”

For months now, fans of the series have wondered about the actress that will play the 16-year-old witch who has to struggle with her high school life, her excentric wizarding family and her newfound magical powers. Well, according to Music News Rumor, Selena Gomez might have just answered her wizarding call and has agreed to play the role.

This, of course, wouldn’t be the first time that Gomez plays a television role, she actually started her career as an actress for the Disney Channel and has grown into so much since then, even become a producer herself and participating in the acclaimed Netflix series 13 Reason Why.

Given her past success in television, fan all over where have started raving about Gomez’s possible involvement in the popular teenage witch series that plays hard on the nostalgia factor. Back in the 1990’s Sabrina, the Teenage Witch gained a spot in the hearts of television viewers worldwide, in those times it Melissa Joan Hart the one to play Sabrina, and lasted in that role for seven seasons.

Teen Vogue also pointed out that Gomez ditched her famous brunette look for a platinum hair in order to be more in line with the character’s blonde appearance, but of course, nothing is official yet and this could be no more than just wishful thinking.

It’s worth noting that Gomez is also 25-years-old already, and even though she might look young for her age, Sabrina is still a high school freshman, so it might be wise to choose a younger actress that can grow in the following seasons, just like Joan Hart did in her times and played the television witch far into her college years.
