Selena Gomez Follows Britney Spears’ Footsteps With DREAMers T-Shirt

Back in September 2017, Selena stood up for DREAMers with an emotional post on Instagram, writing, “My definition of dreamer is someone that thinks big and believes anything is possible.” She encouraged all DREAMers to get in touch with their local Congress and voice their concerns.

“Sometimes it’s incredibly difficult to wake up every day knowing there is so much going on in the world,” wrote Selena Gomez. Selena expressed her feelings with those words due to President Donald Trump’s decision on ending the DACA program six months from September.

If the DACA program ends in March, thousands of people will face the possibility of deportation. Being of Mexican descent herself, the singer and actress took an opportunity once again to make a statement. This time, the message was delivered through a T-shirt she wore with the phrase:

“WE ARE ALL DREAMERS”

Selena Gomez isn’t the first celebrity to support DREAMers. Recently, pop princess Britney Spears posted a photo wearing the same T-shirt. She received some heartbreaking backlash, receiving messages like, “Why don’t you let them stay at your place?” or “A criminal is a criminal.”

Ellen DeGeneres wore the tee during one of The Ellen DeGeneres Show episodes. Fashion brand Off White’s Virgil Abloh in collaboration with the Emerson Collective created the shirts that are getting attention among celebrities.

Even though the shirts intend to support undocumented immigrants, the message, in general, is unity and compassion towards those who need it most while Congress makes its crucial, life-changing decision.
