Las Vegas Hero Jesus Campos Disappears Moments Before Scheduled Interviews

Jesus Campos, the Mandalay Bay security guard who was shot in the leg by Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, bolted the building he was in on Thursday night, moments before he was scheduled to do five television interviews. Cameras and staff were already set, and just about as they were beginning to roll, Jesus Campos vanished, leaving no trail or clue as to his whereabouts.

Mr. Campos was expected to break the silence and speak to the media for the first time since the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. His sudden disappearance, however, has opened new questions about what really happened that fateful night, when Stephen Paddock opened fire among concert goers, from his suite on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay. David Hickey, the international union president of the Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America – the union that represents Jesus Campos – can’t account for the location of their guard, either. “We were in a room and we came out and he was gone,” said Hickey to the press.

Things have changed a lot since Campos first came on the scene. According to the police department’s latest timeline of what happened on October 1st, the shooter sprayed 200 rounds into Mandalay Bay’s hallway, injuring Jesus Campos’ leg in the process. This incident, according to the police, happened six minutes before Paddock started shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival crowd, and not after like some were led to believe when the story first came out. This subject was going to be mentioned during Campos’ interview with Sean Hannity on Thursday night, but as announced by the television host himself, Campos “canceled” the interview.

It’s a very troubling situation when one of the central figures of this mass shooting suddenly disappears without leaving a trace in what is supposed to be one of the most surveyed countries in the free world. As of now, no definite pictures that could lead to the guard’s location have surfaced, nor is there a digital footprint to follow.

SPFPA President David L. Hickey still holds that Jesus Campos is a hero and that without his involvement, the safety of the maintenance workers on the 32nd floor wouldn’t have been secured. Voth the Vegas PD and MGM Resorts have already issued a statement to “correct some of the misinformation that has been reported” regarding their conflicting accounts of the story.

“We know that shots were being fired at the festival lot at the same time as, or within 40 seconds after, the time Jesus Campos first reported that shots were fired over the radio,” read the statement “Metro officers were together with armed Mandalay Bay security officers in the building when Campos first reported that shots were fired over the radio. These Metro officers and armed Mandalay Bay security officers immediately responded to the 32nd floor.”

For the sake of the American public, we hope that the information is clarified soon. Failing to do so will lead to pseudo-journalists trying to cash in on the people’s confusion with their wild conspiracy theories that only cloud investigative efforts.
