These Five Latinos Were Among The Victims Of The 10/31 NYC Attack

Yesterday was a sad day for our country. Once again, we were victims of an indiscriminate act of hate toward the American way of life. Yes, the terrorists have hurt us once more, but they have also hurt five of our brothers in Argentina.

The five Argentines were in the country vacationing, celebrating life and friendship. Read the statement below released by Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this issue:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets to inform that Argentine citizens lost their lives today in New York as consequence of the attack perpetrated in that city. Right now the New York Consulate is working along with local authorities in the identification of the victims.

The Government of the Republic of Argentina is profoundly shocked by the death of our countrymen and is working to assist the family and friends of the victims.

Argentina reaffirms it’s energetic condemnation of terrorist acts and violence in all its manifestations and reiterates the necessity to deepen the battle against the said scourge.

The Government of Argentina would like to express it’s deepest condolences for the early departure of Argentine citizens Hernán Diego Mendoza, Diego Enrique Angelini, Alejandro Damián Pagnucco, Ariel Erlij and Hernán Ferruchi, as consequence of the dramatic terrorist attack perpetrated on New York on October 31st, 2017,  on the other hand, Martín Ludovico Navarro is currently hospitalized at the Presbyterian Hospital of Manhattan recovering from his wounds and is out of danger according to the doctors.

The countrymen hail from the city of Rosario and were part of a group of friends celebrating the 30th-anniversary of their graduation from the Escuela Politécnica of that city when the tragic event occurred.

The General Consulate is still working in collaboration with police authorities and the hospital that received Ludovico Navarro, as well as with the family members in Argentina.

We join the families in their time of profound grief that is shared by all Argentinians.

In total, this attack took the lives of three other people. One of them was from Belgium and the other two from our own country. New York City is everyone’s city, and the attack perpetrated upon our soil was an offense to the whole world, not just to our pride.
