Violent Drug Cartel Sends Donations To Mexico City Earthquake Victims

A drug cartel from Sinaloa known as La Gente Nueva del Tigre donated supplies to the victims of the earthquakes that recently hit Mexico City and its surrounding areas. Despite being a dangerous group of criminals, who have participated in killings throughout the city, there has been nothing praise for the cartel.

The message reads:

We send this aid. We hope it helps the victims of the earthquake. We are here to help the people.

Signed by Gente Nueva del TIGRE – Carteles Unidos, the message, and boxes of supplies were found on 19th street and Ferrocarril. The donations, though well received, are reminiscent of Pablo Escobar days, or even Joquin Loera Guzman – El Chapo.

Jesús Díaz, the coordinator for the Red Cross Rescue Team, assured that the boxes were picked up by the Red Cross and sent to the damaged areas of the city. In a time of despair, like the one Mexico City is living, it’s impossible to say no to help, regardless of who offers.

Images of the boxes and the narco message went viral on social media, with most comments thanking the Tigre Cartel. The Sinaloa Cartel is fighting a turf war against the Juarez Cartel and their allies La Nueva Generacion de Jalisco, but online users still appreciated their efforts.

One of them wrote:

Even though you mention your group’s name, the fact that it’s anonymous help is even more beautiful. On behalf of all those who benefit from your act of kindness, thank you, friends.

Another comment reads:

The Narcos are helping the people. That’s one thing the damn government is not doing. God bless you, guys.

Since the earthquakes occurred, Mexico City and Mexico as a whole, has been more united than ever. Thousands of volunteers have helped rescue people by the dozens, and Japan sent nearly 100 rescuers to help with the difficult task.

Stories of rescue dogs like Frida have also uplifted people and stories of men rescuing dogs, as well. Celebrities like Eugenio Derbez have sent out messages urging the Mexican people to maintain their generosity after the tragedy ends.

“The earthquake woke us up from our lethargy and showed us that in just 50 seconds we can become another country,” said Eugenio Derbez in a video message. “Not the Mexico of corrupt politicians, not the Mexico of people who kill, steal, rob, lie. The Mexico of people who take to the street and risk their lives to save others.”
