Chicago, Illinois twin brothers Margarito and Pedro Flores, who were in charge of the Sinaloa Cartel operation in the city, have been credited to be a crucial part in the takedown of the infamous drug kingpin, regardless of their help, the two brothers were sentenced to 14 years in prison back in 2015.

The brother’s wives, however, authored a book called “Cartel Wives”, where they reveal aspects of ‘El Chapo’s’ personality and provide insight into the mind of the most dangerous narco-terrorist in history. The book is a must-read for any history buff who wants to understand the dark side of matters and the psychology behind ‘El Chapo’s’ reasoning.

“When they would go up to the mountains and they would come back, they would tell us, you know, that he took care of himself. He didn’t do drugs himself. He didn’t drink. He wanted to keep his mind and his body healthy.” says one of the authors of the book in a video. “He would take vitamins. He was a very violent man so everybody was intimidated by him. He didn’t have to yell. He would just study people and it’s like he was looking right through them.”

“You know, he was just studying everything, every word they were saying because in this business, you know, nobody trusts anybody,” one of the wives continued saying. “But he had a soft side for my husband and my brother-in-law and I’m sure that they crushed him when they decided to cooperate and this is why he was extradited to the United States.”

‘Cartel Wives: A True Story of Deadly Decisions, Steadfast Love, and Bringing Down’ was released back in April 2017, and has been described as “an astonishing, revelatory, and redemptive memoir from two women who escaped the international drug trade, with never-before-revealed details about El Chapo, the Sinaloa Cartel, and the dangerous world of illicit drugs.”
